Barbara Bernát is an illustrator and graphic designer from Hungary. She graduated as a student of the Graphic Design MA course at the University of West Hungary. Experienced in many different fields of graphic design she uses the known traditional techniques like drawing, painting, and etching to experiment with new and unknown ones. Her MA degree project is a banknote series, which is the focus of this post. Her attention to detail is the most inspiring factor of these pieces. They produce a sense of class and system as if it was real currency. The process she follows is true to the art of developing and designing banknotes. The animals also represent the growth of value showing the hierarchy of the wooded lands of Eastern Europe. Her ability to maintain a formal quality in her work is assisted, not over shadowed, by her beautiful and rustic illustrations which amount to what is truly considered graphic design.
